Israel fez uma oferta formal para fornecer ajuda humanitária ao Líbano. A oferta veio por meio da Força Provisória das Nações Unidas no Líbano (UNIFIL) na fronteira sul do Líbano, já que os dois países não têm relações diplomáticas.
O ministro da Defesa israelense, Benny Gantz, anunciou no Twitter que esta oferta foi “à luz da difícil situação econômica no Líbano e à luz das tentativas do Hezbollah de trazer investimentos iranianos para o Líbano”.
Gantz acrescentou que a assistência de Israel ajudaria o Líbano a “a sair de seu estado de crise”.
In light of the dire economic situation in Lebanon, and considering Hezbollah’s attempts to deepen Iranian investments in the country, I have contacted UNIFIL via the IDF’s liaison officials and discussed a proposal to transfer humanitarian aid to Lebanon.
